HOT DEAL on Small World!

A girl with brown skin reaches up to cradle a model of the Earth beneath the words SMALL WORLD, words by Ishta Mercurio, pictures by Jen Corace

Being an author involves so much more than just writing books. There's organizing book tours (which are happening, by the way! Stay tuned for details!), and designing swag, and checking your Amazon rankings incessantly*, and writing blog posts like this one, and checking Amazon again*...

All that's to say, I was in the midst of one or more of those things yesterday, and I happened to notice that SMALL WORLD, which comes out on July 2nd, is not only available for pre-order, but IT'S ON SALE! For $12.75, which is bananas.

These sales happen entirely without my knowledge and are completely out of my control. I have no idea how long it's been going on, and I have no idea how long it will last. But it's a great price for a picture book, so if you haven't pre-ordered yet, this is a really good time to do it! To pre-order from Amazon, click here. And if you'd rather use your hard-earned money to support Barnes and Noble, SMALL WORLD is available from them too, for the same price! You can get it from them by clicking here.

And as a bonus for people who pre-order, I'm putting together a thank-you package. It will involve a signed bookplate**, a bookmark, and (if I can get permission from my publisher) an enamel pin. (If I can't get permission from my publisher to make pins, I'll think of something else REALLY AWESOME to put in there.)

And THANK YOU to everyone who has pre-ordered SMALL WORLD! I don't have enough words to express my gratitude to you all. I'm so, so grateful to have the opportunity to share Nanda's journey with you and your kids.

*I don't check Amazon that often. Really. No, really.

**A bookplate is a sticker that matches the book's design in some way, that you can stick in the book on the title page or on the endpapers. Authors sometimes sign them and send them to people who can't make it to a bookstore event, but want a signed copy of the book.

New Look for the Blog!

Hey! There were some things that bothered me about the look of the old bloggity-blog, so I finally sat down and said to myself, "Self, it's time to do something about that." So I did. Much to my son's
